Public Sophon RPC is useful for testing and basic access. Production apps need more control. Not in the staking sense. Sophon is a ZK Stack (zkSync Era) validium with a centralized sequencer, so there is no permissionless, stake-to-earn validator like Ethereum or Solana. User-run full nodes are read-only: they serve reads and proxy L2 transactions to the main node, but cannot create L2 blocks, generate proofs, or submit data independently today. What we provision is a fast, dedicated full or archive RPC node, which is what apps and indexers actually need.
Yes. Sophon is built on the ZK Stack and settles to Ethereum, so your external node connects to an Ethereum L1 execution RPC endpoint to derive and verify state. If that parent-chain endpoint is slow or rate-limited, your node can fall behind, which shows up as stale reads and delayed indexing. You can bring your own Ethereum endpoint or host one on dedicated servers with us, ideally in the same region for tighter latency.
Yes, within Sophon's current node model. A full node can send L2 transactions that are proxied to the main node. It cannot create L2 blocks, generate proofs, or submit data to L1 independently today, so we frame the setup around private reads, Web3 API access, transaction relay, indexing, and monitoring.
Yes. You can run HTTP JSON-RPC calls and WebSocket subscriptions from one controlled access layer. On a dedicated node you decide which transports and methods you expose, so live event feeds and standard reads share the same private endpoint.
Yes. Indexers can use a Sophon RPC node for logs, receipts, event history, contract reads, and backfill jobs. We recommend NVMe storage and enough CPU and RAM headroom because Sophon's full-node database was about 1.3 TB at the time of its docs and grows from there.
