Backdrop of the Project
Look at any smartphone today and ads sit alongside the content people came for. ZinkAds works in exactly that space: an advanced DSP design firm that reads the psychology behind buying decisions and helps advertisers improve their conversion rate.
Roadblocks
With rising competition in the field, user experience is everything. ZinkAds needed infrastructure with low latency, high bandwidth, and high computation speed to support real-time bidding between demand and supply partners.
To keep bidding seamless, it had to run geographically close to the auction sites, and connectivity had to be flawless. A dropped bid means paying for an ad impression that cannot be billed to the client, a direct hole in the pocket.
Our Solution
We started by reviewing the platform to understand its operations, then built a proof of concept on two small servers to test Node.js clustering.
Once the POC succeeded, we deployed six powerful AMD machines as a cluster to serve the ads, and engineered the environment as a private cloud that scales simply by adding another server.
After deployment, we took on monitoring, backup, and management of the full infrastructure.
