A Mock Test Portal Scales 20x on a Cost-effective Dedicated Server

There is no single way to deliver or receive education, and the shift to online learning has changed how knowledge is shared. Apps, video, and digital media now sit alongside the traditional textbook, and competitive exams have moved the same way: online assessments let students sit a test from anywhere in the world.

To serve those students, our client Hranker built a platform for online mock tests, constantly refreshing its test-series library so candidates could practice and stay confident ahead of the real exam.

Scaling a business carries a cost, and Hranker was paying it to their existing managed service provider. For a startup with enterprise ambitions, a large upfront managed-hosting bill meant fewer resources left for everything else that needed funding.

Cost-efficiency was therefore the key challenge: the platform had to grow to serve more aspirants and deliver a better experience, without the hosting spend crowding out the rest of the business.

After reviewing the mock-test platform, we found it was sized for roughly 100 visitors per day. We built a plan to manage and scale that existing infrastructure rather than over-provision it.

We deployed a dedicated server running cPanel, migrated their data, took on maintenance, and monitored server performance. Crucially, the full infrastructure and its upkeep came in under the budget they had set, which is what pleased the client most.

With on-demand support and dedicated-server management, we advised the client on their workload and helped them reach the scale they were after. After deployment, the platform grew from 100 concurrent users per day to 2,000.

On top of the headroom to grow, the client cut their hosting overheads by 30% by moving to our dedicated server.
